Origin of the project:
The project took shape over the years following the Ciboule Valley trail, which since 1980 has preserved the sunken paths dotted with hedges, a veritable pantry for the inhabitants of the rural villages of the time.
These trails allowed discreet movement from one place to another, sometimes by watchtowers on the Ciboule, sometimes by paths that plunged into the bowels of the hills.
By observing these landscapes, the farmers of the time shaped this universe, offering the town an atypical, vast and hilly nature.
Come and discover in this unusual setting, the treasures that nature has been able to hide and that it has preserved.
The educational trail is located in the heart of the town overlooked by the Château Gaillard, a building built at the beginning of the XNUMXth century.
Let yourself go back in time, come stroll, observe, listen and walk on this site, with family, friends or lovers. This inspiring and relaxing walk will share with you the know-how of the ancients.
Discover the hedge, called "bouésson" and its assets on "Le P'tit Val Gaillard":
Over time, some hedges no longer exist. However, their recognized usefulness today encourages them to be replanted.
The hedge participates actively in the fight against erosion. Natural and essential shelter for animals against bad weather, it provides the boundary of plots and serves as a windbreak. A real living space for many plant and animal species, the hedge is full of elements necessary for everyday life. From time immemorial, the hedge has accompanied man in his everyday life by giving him wood to make fences, shelters and sheds, toys for children. Throughout the year, it draws fruits from it for food. The wood allows him to heat himself. The most knowledgeable will appreciate the medicinal and aromatic virtues of certain essences.
Note that for everyone's satisfaction, "certain terms" are in patois, our local dialect.
