In the Middle Ages, the dovecote was the privilege of the lord and represented the importance of the property and the power of the latter.
In Girouard, this building never had this vocation because it dates from 1860 and was built in this style for simple aesthetics. Pigeons and small farm animals (chickens, rabbits, pigs, etc.) lived there to feed the priest and his maid. There was also a well nearby which was blocked.
This set was restored in the 2010s. The bread oven regains its original function during village festivals to cook waste and bread and to simmer the famous mogettes that the people of Girouard eat on toasted bread.
