The Girouard: a hidden treasure
The municipality of Girouard is certainly the most picturesque of our territory. Located outside the axes of passage, one does not come there by chance. This small village, which has managed to preserve and enhance its built heritage, worth a stop to discover its hidden treasures.
A real miniature castle, the Chateau Gaillard near the church is actually a presbytery from the 19e century. The dovecote and the bread oven, restored a few years ago, are part of this original ensemble which overlooks the Ciboule Valley.
For a more in-depth visit, we advise you to park in the large car park located below Rue de la Vigne. Follow the signposted path of the educational path " Le P'tit Val Gaillard which evokes the hedge in the Vendée landscape. This path will make you pass below the Chateau Gaillard which you can reach by climbing a few steps.
The effort is worth it, you will be rewarded by the surprising architecture of the small presbytery and the view of the valley!
