Discover Saint-Georges-de-Pointindoux
The origins of Saint-Georges-de-Pointindoux were lost in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by the bell tower and choir of the Saint-Georges church, dating from the Middle Ages. The square bell tower seduces with its squat and sturdy appearance. The church, known for its historic capitals from the 14e century, evoke four of the seven deadly sins. Its facade overlooks the Place des Tilleuls which has retained the charm of the village squares of yesteryear and its Michelin terminal.
The small Chapel of Moulières, located in the village of the same name, is discreet. Nestled in the greenery and accessible by a small path, it contains only a few benches and a small altar, but seduces with its simple architecture. Only the exteriors can be visited.

“A story of coat of arms”
Interestingly, the town's coat of arms is an artificial coat of arms and was created from scratch in 1992. It takes up the motif of the dragon pierced by the spear of Saint-Georges and alludes to four trades which were historically present in the town.
- Stonemasons (massettes and bush hammers) were numerous until the First World War and mainly worked granite from local quarries. Many of the nearby crosses are their work.
- The millers (the millstone) had been very present in the village “Les Moulières”.
- The basket makers (the billhook and the knife) made the reputation of the town at the beginning of the 20e century. They had the particularity of working not with wicker, but with chestnut.
- The only profession still existing today, farmers are represented by flying grains as at the time of threshing.
