Thanks to the quality of its light and the variety of patterns, the Vendée inspires many artists. Some make a living from their art, others devote themselves to it in their free time. Many exhibition venues au Pays des Achards present the fruits of this artistic expression.

The Tourist Office

All year, temporary exhibitions follow one another at the Tourist Office. In a specially dedicated space, you can admire paintings, sculptures and photographs. The Tourist Office also regularly exhibits objects relating to daily life in Vendée since the end of the 19th century. These objects are graciously loaned and staged by Mr. and Mrs. Chauvet. This couple of collectors live in Les Achards and devote their lives to collecting these testimonies from the past.

Libraries and town halls

Art is also invited in the town halls and libraries of our municipalities. Photographs, calligraphy, paper creations or children's drawings brighten up the spaces between the shelves.

Throughout the month of June, the territory's libraries welcome works by local artists as part of “Art in Bib”. This highlight, free and open to all, is accessible during the opening hours of the libraries.

All these exhibitions can see the light of day thanks to volunteer engagement, the will of the municipal teams et the dynamism of the library network.

Two great local initiatives have been implemented by the municipality of Les Achards:

Every year, in March, the Barn of the Mares hosts an exhibition for a week. Schools, the Ehpad, as well as local artists and guests of honor exhibit their works in this exceptional place which has marked the history of the town.
Every two years, on the first weekend of September, the town center of the La Chapelle district is the subject of an extraordinary art fair: Wanderings. Art invites itself into more than 25 private and public places. Houses, gardens, schools, the church or the café then become living places where different artistic styles intersect: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography...

The attic of the meadow

Every summer the Grenier du Pré au Jaunay Lake hosts exhibitions of local artists organized by the cultural association At the Sources of the Meadow. Do not hesitate to open the door of this charming little house: the plastered walls, the wooden ceilings and the exposed beams make it a welcoming exhibition space which highlights the works on display, mainly paintings and sculptures. In this intimate setting, it becomes easy to linger and discuss with the artists present on site.

The Goddess Workshop

During the holiday season, the animated windows in Beaulieu-sous-la-Roche attract many visitors and light up stars in the eyes of young and old alike. A superb Playmobil exhibition at The Goddess Workshop and the museum of The Ferie of Santons complete the magic of Christmas.
