Guided tours: another look at the La Mothe district

A discreet but very much alive heritage

La Mothe-Achard, central district of Pickles, is not full of castles or grand monuments… And yet, its streets, squares and buildings tell the story of centuries of local life, traditions and transformations.

The Tourist Office has designed an original journey through the town, to give voice to this small, sometimes forgotten heritage. A way to shed light on what surrounds us on a daily basis, and to let yourself be surprised by unexpected stories.

A journey between memory and modernity

Throughout the tour, you will cross the major periods that have marked the commune, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The route highlights the evolution of the urban fabric, commercial activity, religious life and agricultural transformations.

Some emblematic stops

  • The town hall square, a former lively and strategic cattle market
  • Les Halles, a memory of local economic life
  • Saint-Jacques Church, a spiritual and architectural landmark
  • The Place du Vieux Château, witness to a more distant past, discreet but rich in meaning

A guide who listens to the territory

Portrait Alexandra Richter

These visits are conducted by Alexandra Richter, a qualified tour guide and tourism development officer at the Tourist Office. With many years of experience, she is committed to conveying local history in a lively and sensitive way.

His approach : telling the story of places through people, customs and atmospheres, with a discourse accessible to all, whether you are passionate about history or simply curious to better understand what surrounds us.

My goal is not to recite a history lesson, but to convey the soul of a place, through its anecdotes, its developments, and its silences too.
