The British market represents the first foreign clientele in Vendee. Also, Vendée Expansion invites all those involved in tourism to join the community of “Welcome” people. More than 225 tourism stakeholders in the Vendée have committed to this process. 

The British market is one of the most important source markets for the regions of the Great West. By capturing more than 3,5 million overnight stays, this market represents a capital challenge for the tourist economy of our territory.

Following a significant drop in attendance from this clientele, the Pays de la Loire Regional Agency with the support of the Vendée Expansion Tourism Division and the Vendée Tourist Offices, wanted to react by launching an operation to win back British customers through several coordinated actions.

What is the “Welcome” label?

It is above all a free process. Its purpose is to collectively improve the reception of English-speaking customers throughout the Vendée region and to get to know them better. It also makes it possible to integrate a community which, with the efforts of each one, makes it possible to join forces to make Vendée a destination of reference for this clientele.

This study is aimed at all tourist operators wishing to develop the reception of this clientele. It presents its profile, its expectations, as well as the key figures on tourist attendance in Pays de la Loire.

For which audience?

  • Tourist Offices, organizers of the welcoming community in the area.
  • Tourism professionals (hosts, restaurants, tourist sites, places to visit, shops, etc.)
  • The inhabitants, Anglophones or British themselves, can, at their level, take part in the reception of this clientele by helping the community of receptionists of the territory during specific actions.

How to become a member of this community?

  • Contact us to know commitment criteria depending on your type of structure. The audit lasts less than an hour and makes it possible to verify that your establishment meets at least 85% of the criteria of the evaluation grid.
  • You will sign a commitment charter for a period of 5 years and you will then benefit from the advantages of the community of hosts.

Vendée Guide to the Land of Achards

The Pays des Achards Tourist Office, in partnership with Vendee Tourism, went to meet Anthony Vickers, a newcomer to the town of Saint-Georges-de-Pointindoux.
