Château Gaillard (built in the XNUMXth century) at Le Girouard is a neo-medieval construction desired by Abbé Rouillon.

This miniature fortress is the work of the priest Abbé Rouillon. Arriving in the commune in 1865, the abbot had traveled to the Holy Land and brought back memories of the architecture of the castles built at the time of the Crusades.
The presbytery required consolidation work at the time, Father Rouillon had the original idea of restoring the building by adding the architectural features of another time.
The towers at the corners of the building and the false brick battlements along the entire belt make this old presbytery original. The crosses formed by the brick decoration, however, recall the religious charge of the former inhabitants.

The municipality of Girouard has chosen to install one of the 10 libraries of the Pays des Achards Library Network there, thus opting for a daily enhancement of this small architectural gem.
