Small and rustic, with a squat and old bell tower, the Chapelle-Achard church is one of the oldest in the region.

Its origin dates back to the 11th century when Lord Etienne Achard de Mota decided to create a new village and had a chapel built.
Damaged by the wars of religion and during the Revolution, this church has nevertheless preserved its original choir which is the oldest in the Pays des Achards.

Built in cut stone, vaulted in the form of a furnace, it is lit by five semi-circular arched windows. Three stained glass windows in the choir represent important scenes from the Catholic faith: on the first, we observe Joan of Arc at the time of her first call. The second represents Mary and the angel Gabriel. On the third, we see the angel Gabriel equipped with a spear and a blue sword who is assassinating a demon.

The nave, burned by Protestants in 1568, was rebuilt in the 17th century. In 1864, the architect Joseph Libaudière de la Roche-sur-Yon had heavy buttresses placed outside the church to support the walls which were giving way to the pressure of the vaults.
